BOOT Is Over. The Real Work Starts Now.

This week I returned from Branded Operations Orientation Training (BOOT) with Authority Brands.
Like most people heading into training, I expected to spend the week learning systems, processes, and how the organization operates. We certainly did that. The schedule was packed from morning until evening, covering everything from operations and marketing to customer experience and financial performance.
It was exactly what I hoped it would be.
What I didn’t expect was how much I would learn from the people sitting around me.
Our cohort was made up of franchise owners, General Managers, and Operations Managers from different parts of the country. Some were experienced business owners. Others were launching their first company.
Some knew their industry inside and out, while others were entering it from completely different careers.
Everyone arrived with a different story.
One conversation kept coming up throughout the week.
Why this?
Why now?
Why this brand?
Listening to those answers was one of the most valuable parts of the experience. Every person had a different reason for being there, but everyone had made the decision to invest in building something of their own.
As I listened, it made me reflect on my own journey.
After more than two decades leading organizations, managing large teams, and driving growth for someone else’s business, I’m finally building one that reflects my own values, expectations, and vision.
That’s what DDS Legacy Group represents for me. One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning is simply the first operating company under that vision.
BOOT reminded me that success isn’t just about having a good business plan. It’s about execution. It’s about consistency. It’s about learning from people who have walked the path before you while remaining open to new ideas from those walking it beside you.
One thing I appreciated throughout the week was the willingness of people to share their experiences. There wasn’t a sense of competition. There was a genuine desire to help each other succeed. As someone preparing to launch, that’s the kind of network you hope to be part of.
I left with pages of notes, a better understanding of what lies ahead, and relationships that I know will continue long after training.
The launch is getting closer.
Each milestone makes it feel more real.
Each conversation reinforces that we made the right decision.
And each week reminds me why I chose to bet on myself.
Let’s get after it!
